GHOST Teams Book 1 Magic eBook Bobby Brimmer
G.H.O.S.T. Teams is an action-packed, fast-paced, awesome fantasy adventure. While grounding the story in a noir-ish, modern-day D.C. with relatable characters, the book makes me believe that there is a seedy, magical underbelly to our nation's capital and that only this highly-trained Team can navigate it. Throw in a car that has the soul of a dragon, a supporting character named after an eye-care product, and a motor-mouth protagonist, and you have a fun story that picks you up on page one and doesn't put you down until it's done with you.The narrative is told from the perspective of the protagonist, Bruce Chang, a character who is both perfectly believable and completely fantastic. A womanizing, egotistical, witty assassin who also knows the score in every situation he's in. He's not overconfident. He's exactly-the-right-amount-of confident. Mr. Brimmer lets you into the character's head, at first putting you at a distance (What kind of protagonist is this, who thinks such things?) and then finally bringing you in close (I kind of know exactly what he's thinking. And why.) He's not a Goody Two-Shoes. And he's not the surly, brooding silent-type. He is who he is, and he has to save the world with a few friends and his two fists.
And where a lot of these books falter in action descriptions, this story soars. What does it look like when two expert killers square off against a sorcerer, a troll, and a werewolf (all of whom seamlessly fit into the story?) I can't tell you, but the book sure can. You recoil at every punch. Reel from every kick. And do other things when people hit you with other things (including swords and spells.)
The book definitely ends with the feeling that we've only glimpsed the surface of a fascinating world (or, more accurately, worlds.) And, as the title implies, there are sure to be more in the series, so we all have other adventures to look forward to in the chronicles of Bruce and his G.H.O.S.T. Team.

GHOST Teams Book 1 Magic eBook Bobby Brimmer Reviews
I felt liked the lead character lacked credibility and I felt like I was reading a book based on TV show. Over all it was OK though. I probably wont read the rest of the series, but if you are looking for a light Urban Fantasy with hot chicks and cool cars, you'll probably really enjoy this.
Meet Bruce Chang...a guy with a non-stop stream of jokes and sarcasm, outrageous flirting skills, and a pragmatic, wry outlook on life. Oh yeah, and he's a Ninja!
What's not to love about Bruce? his wisecracking, Ninja awesomeness is balanced by hints of a dark past, and his sidekick is a Dragon spirit melded to a car...the fight scenes kick ass, and the jokes & flirting provide a light-heartedness that is appealing. I'd like to get to know Bruce's Team a little better, but had no complaints about this book...a fast, funny adventure!
After reading this book, I immediately bought the next in the series...and am now eagerly waiting for book 3!
Wise cracking anti hero trying to atone for his past. They never really tell us what he did, but now he has to pay for it by babysitting a newbie team out to fight paranormal evil. I liked the main character so much I could almost imagine the look on his face when his team says or does something unexpected. This would be a great book for vacation or an Airplane ride. Totally engaging.
I found this book to be a pleasant surprise.
Fast paced and entertaining, the main character is not instantly likeable, but developes nicely throughout the novel, and by the end of book two you will be solidly behind him, as he tries to guide a green troupe of "specialists" through a minefield of danger. The whole ninja persona and the talking car seems a bit silly at first, but it has it's own charms, so don't give up on this story early!
Looking forward to book three!
I decided what the hell, I'll read this new author, mainly because of the really good reviews the book had. Well, I concur, the book was a great find. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it & for once, there were very little editing issues & as we all know with kindle books, editing & poor grammar can ruin a really good read. Not here though. Enjoy.
This is a batch of fun if I ever read one.
This ninja talks more smack than deadpool, and that's part of the fun. This is a cool ride that has (among other things) a great explanation for magic and how it works. It's just the kind of thing to read during a commute; it's fun escapism. The action scenes may well be the best part of this book; I found myself cringing on the metro (subway) many a time while reading them.
Oh, and plus it's a buck!
Looking forward to the next book, and thensome!
As I read this book I found myself checking the author's name. The "feel" of the book is eerily reminescent of the works of Nigel Findley and Mel Odem. For those of you old enough to get the reference, that's about all I need to say.
For the rest of you, the book is an Urban Fantasy noir in which the world-weary protagonist is saddled with a bunch of naive idealists who only have a fair idea what they've signed up for, and our hero's main job is to keep them alive long enough to truly understand what they're up against. Our character is more than a little jaded, but considering his past as well as the fact that he now works for the government under the good-old "need-to-know" bureaucracy (which basically means you get information about an hour after it would have been useful) that's completely understandable.
My only real complaint is that the book is entitled "Book 1" and there isn't a "Book 2" as of yet.
